Some Cool and Useful Websites

The internet has over a billion websites. However, some are practically very useful. I am listing below some cool websites. Clicking on the site name will take you to the website.

Haveibeenpwned.com – Mind you there is no ‘a’ in ‘pwned’ in the domain name. Millions of email accounts are hacked in data breaches and even corporate and social media sites are not safe. Your email password could be down there in the darknet with you being blissfully unaware. This site allows you to enter your email and check if it has been a victim of a data breach or theft. The ‘Notify Me’ section allows you to enter your email so that in future you can get alerts if your email password is compromised. Change your passwords from time to time and if you find your email is included in the data breach, change your password immediately. This is a great site and allows one to even check whether his or her phone number has been compromised. This is useful and one of the many cool websites out there.

Alternativeto.net – This is the site to go if you are searching for an alternative to any software and app. Just type in the name of the software and the site will list down several alternatives. You can find lots of software and apps that could be lesser priced than and as good as the one you are using now.

Eatthismuch.com – A perfect website to plan your meals. You just need to enter how many calories you want to consume in a day and the site will list out all the recommended dishes. You can choose from vegetarian, Mediterranean, etc. The website also has an exhaustive list of foods with their calories, carbs, fats and protein value.

Wolframalpha.com – An excellent website for taking out both numerical and non-numerical information. It is a search engine that gives vital information neatly in a summarized form instead of showing results as in a conventional search engine. The results are succinct and up to the point. You will wish why you did not know about this site earlier.

Nounproject.com – For working professionals who often make presentations, this site is an excellent resource for getting icons. Just type the word for which you need the icons and you will see many icons to choose from. There are icons for almost every subject so check it out. Besides icons the site also has photos.

Passwordsgenerator.net – You can enter all the features you want in your password such as length, numbers, symbols, etc. and the site will give you the best password. On the homepage, you will also find a comprehensively written set of rules and tips about protecting your passwords.

Google.com/flights – Or good old google neatly lists all the flights you can consider for travelling and when you choose the flight, it will take you directly to the travel provider’s portal. The listings appear neater than on many travel portals and there is also a price graph that shows you the future ticket price trend.

Statista.com – This is a brilliant site for obtaining statistical figures from over 170 industries and over 150 countries. Statista is very useful for working professionals, entrepreneurs, journalists, and researchers. The site also has eye-catching infographics which you can download and use in your presentations.

You.regettingold.com – This is a fun site, and I will not write much. Just enter your date of birth and see what happens!

Fast.com – Use this site if you do not trust your internet provider’s speed test site. This is from Netflix and has a neat interface.

Manualslib.com – You will find the user and other manuals of over 105442 brands on this site. So, if you have lost your manual for your dear camera, you will find it here. They have over 4 million manuals in their database.

The list of 11 websites is not complete and I will keep updating it with more cool websites. Do visit my other posts.
