The 8 Types of Protestors – Why They Protest

Protestors are seen everywhere because protests happen all the time. It is the right of the people and is necessary for a democracy. However, all protestors are not serious protestors. Below are the types of protestors we see in every country

Those with conviction – This is the group who have convictions about their protests and should be taken seriously. They have a good deal of knowledge about the issue and are not easily misled. Right or wrong, they have conviction about their cause and hence protest. This group should be engaged in a debate when a solution is to be found for the issue at hand.

Reactive ones – People in this group are stakeholders in the cause but do not have full knowledge and are not necessarily destructive or anti-national or evil. They react and protest out of fear because they are totally misled by self-seeking politicians, intellectuals, liberals, and media. It is their fear, misunderstandings, and lack of full knowledge that make them protest. This group should also be taken seriously during negotiations.

Pseudo-intellectuals –  These people have no convictions or even full knowledge of the cause but protest simply because they feel it makes them look different from others (stand out from the crowd). They think it is fashionable to protest even if it is for a wrong cause such as against the interest of their country. This group often also involves those who protest habitually and for whom protesting has become a reflex action. They protest against anything and everything.

Destructive ones – Every country has its share of anti-national and destructive elements who like to see their country burn. Many of them are the pseudo-intellectuals and liberals who have their own twisted ideas of utopia. They are not concerned with any particular cause but have only one agenda and that is to spread destruction, anarchy, violence, and mayhem. They want to destabilize the country and remove democracy and use every opportunity to further their evil agenda.

Professionals – This includes people who are paid to protest. They are on nobody’s side but protest because they get money to protest. Protesting provides them a good side income.

Fun Lovers – This group has no conviction or seriousness about the cause. They attend protests and some also shout slogans just for fun and the thrill of it. Attending such protests is a good diversion from their daily routine and provides them a break. Often they are seen laughing and having a good time in the crowd.

Self-seekers – These people do not give a damn to the cause and are on nobody’s side but just sympathize with the protestors because they have their own ax to grind. They are like vultures. Often celebrities fall in this category and shamelessly use the protests and the disturbance to promote their movies or attract publicity. They are worse than even the fun lovers and should be snubbed.

Wasters – This group usually includes unemployed people, wasters and those who have nothing better to do.  These do not fall in any of the above groups and protest simply because they are swayed by the prevailing mass consciousness.
